Giuseppe Rosaccio

YEAR 1594

This map was outdated when it was first done in 1594 and yet it would continue to be published for a long time. Not only is the shape of many of the countries outdated, but the cartographer is using woodblock to make the map, a technique that had mostly made way for the use of copperplates. Still it is a beutiful map, quite artistic in my opinion.

On the right margin of the map is a place which seems to be called PERMENELIC, the ending is unclear. The letter N is turned around, making it look like the Russian letter И.  I just find it interesting.
