Mapping Iceland

This map is based on or in fact a copy of Ortelius’ map, Islandia, monsters and all (with one monster dropped, presumably for lack of space). Quad’s map is on a slightly smaller scale than the original Ortelius Islandia. Also, while Ortelius dedicated his map to Frederick II, Quad dedicated his to the Danish monarch of that time, Christian IV, and added a picture of him in the lower right corner.
