Mapping Iceland

Jodocud Hondius Jr. had prepared this map for the planned new atlas. When he died in 1629, his widow sold the plates with this and many other maps to Willem Blaeu. The following year it appeared in Blaeu’s atlas, titled as an appendix to the Mercator’s atlases. The title of the map is the same, but the signature is changed: Amstelodami Giuljelmus Blaeuw excudit. This is the only change to the map.
