[the world map of Macrobius]

YEAR 1548

This map is based on the work of Macrobius, a fifth century Roman philosopher. He believed the inhabited northern hemisphere needed to be counterbalanced by uninhabitable land in the South. The idea actually comes all the way back from Aristoteles.

Of interest to us is Tule, North of Europe, but unfortunately this land has nothing to do with Iceland, not at this time.
